Corridor VIII
Pan-European Corridor VIII is the energy and infrastructure axis connecting the Adriatic with the Black Sea through Italy, Albania, FYR Macedonia and Bulgaria, linking Greece and Turkey. The main layout of the road infrastructures is of 960 km, 1270 km of rail network, new harbour and airport works, pipelines. This plan is strongly supported by the Governments of the countries crossed by the corridor VIII for the prospects that this opens for the regional envelope: a way for reinforcing the cooperation and the economical growth. But such plan inevitably determines strong ecological modifications inside the regions crossed by the Corridor VIII. The social equilibrium will be put under pressure for those modifications: part of inhabitants will be compelled to move from their houses and / or will recycle themselves in new economical activities different from their old and traditional ones.
